Over the past 28 years of his successful brokerage career, Whit Kirtland has brokered all sizes of yachts, both power and sail, as well as representing Dutch, French, and Italian yacht builders in the marketing and sale of new yachts.

Whit is held in high regard by both peers and clients for his skills, integrity, experience, knowledge, and his unique ability to make both buyer and seller happy by matching the particular yacht to meet the requirements of its next owner.

Whit is the 3rd generation of his family to be in the maritime business (his grandfather was a master shipwright and his father was a broker and head of Merrill-Stevens' Miami yard), and it's his first love. Even before he embarked on what was to become his successful career as a broker, Whit learned the maritime business the hard way, from the ocean up, first working in every shop at Merrill-Stevens, working as a ship mate on an ocean-going tug, serving as Mate aboard a 110' Feadship, and even sailing on the racing circuit as a “grinder” aboard a 51 foot Swan.

Due to Whit's in-depth experience and his maritime heritage, he has developed a high level of respect in and dedication to the brokerage business by not just serving on the Board of Directors of the Florida Yacht Brokers Association, but also as its 3-time President and current board member. He's also on the Board of the International Superyacht Society, participates in the Marine Industries Association of South Florida and the National Yacht Brokers' Certification program, and served on the Certification Advisory Council of the Certified Professional Yacht Brokers' program. (Whit was one of the first yacht brokers in Florida to sit for and pass the Certified Professional Yacht Brokers' exam.

In taking a very personable approach to the brokerage business, Whit, with his unique combination of experience, knowledge and talent to every transaction, strives always to make sure every participant is confident they truly made a good deal.
